FAQs Reflexology

Q. Do I have to be ill to have reflexology?
A. Not at all!! Whilst excellent for helping with many health problems, reflexology is great for maintenance of good health and for relaxation.

Q. I'm pregnant, can I have a treatment?
A. Generally speaking reflexology is excellent during pregnancy, however, you must chat to me before booking a treatment and I may well ask you to speak to you GP or midwife before agreeing to treat you. Care is needed to ensure the treatment is just right and that you are otherwise free of health problems and/or complications which will affect the treatment.

Q. Will it hurt?
A. Reflexology is above all a relaxing treatment. The pressure used on the reflex points is firm but gentle and sometimes we may find reflexes that are tender but rest assured the treatment will not be painful. If there is any discomfort just say but I can assure you that you will find it relaxing and comforting.

Q. Can I have a treatment in my lunch hour?
A. You can but I would say that very often you feel quite tired afterwards so at least for your first treatment try and book on a day when you can go home and relax afterward.

Q. Will you diagnose what is wrong with me?
A. Complementary therapists are not medical practitioners and do not diagnose illness. I may well detect problem areas whilst working with your feet and will discuss this with you at the time. However, you will always be asked to seek the advice of your GP for undiagnosed or unresolved medical problems.

Q. How do I know the treatment is safe?
A. Reflexology has a long history, rooted in ancient therapies and is safe, natural, powerful and yet gentle. It helps your body to heal itself. However, if you are suffering from any serious and/or long term illness, taking certain medication or are pregnant (or think you may be) we will discuss this before a treatment commences and you may be asked to speak to your GP or other appropriate health professional before we begin any treatment. This is a precaution and is for your well-being as reflexology will complement other medical care and must take that treatment into account. If you are worried just give me a call and we can chat it through.
