If you are reading this page I guess you are either experiencing health problems as a result of the menopause, are worried about what it will mean for you or maybe you are worried about someone else close to you.

Whatever the reason, I hope that this will be of help to you.

Before we look at the physical and psychological symptoms of the menopause, let me set the scene for considering complementary therapies at this time.  Healthcare, at all stages in your life, is much more than simply reacting to and seeking medical help for illness.  Rather, it should continually be about lifestyle, diet, fitness, the maintenance of a strong and healthy immune system and generally paying attention to your own physical and mental well-being.

Easier said than done?  Of course it is.  You are busy with work, family and the like and you tend to put yourself last.  Sound familiar?

Complementary therapies are all about helping your body to help itself.  We are looking specifically at reflexology here but other therapies can be equally helpful.  The body is powerful and complex and has an amazing ability to cope with and recover from physical and mental stresses, injury and illness.  Complementary therapies seek to improve your own ability to facilitate this healing and coping.

Am I suggesting that you do not need to see your GP and that you should just have reflexology and breeze through the menopause?

Of course not!

I am saying that reflexology has had a beneficial effect on many women during this time and that it is a natural, safe and gentle approach to dealing with the symptoms.  The menopause is a natural stage in our lives so why not try a natural approach to coping and coming through this?
