Before you book an appointment, especially if reflexology is new to you, have a chat with me – no charge and no obligation – to ensure that the treatment is right for you.
At your first treatment I will take a medical history, discuss your diet, general lifestyle and talk about the reasons for you seeking treatment. Any information you are asked for will be necessary and relevant and you can be assured that it will remain totally confidential. At each subsequent treatment this information will be updated to ensure that I am aware of any changes (e.g. changes in medication or symptoms) and to monitor your progress and the help that you are getting from the treatment. You will then be asked to sit or lie on the couch (as you prefer) and the treatment will begin, working the reflex points on the entire area of both feet.
What might you feel? This will vary from person to person and, depending on your health, from treatment to treatment. Some areas may be sensitive but, although firm pressure is applied to the reflex points, treatment is not painful nor is it uncomfortable. Above all, the treatment should be totally relaxing. Afterwards you will be advised to rest for a few minutes on the couch before moving and will be offered a drink of water or herbal tea.
What should you wear? Something light and loose to ensure that you feel totally comfortable.
How long will the treatment take? Allow yourself around 45 minutes, especially for the first treatment when we take quite a while to run through the health questionnaire.
Confidentiality The relationship between client and practitioner is important –there must be total openness and trust. You must feel that you can totally relax, able to speak freely about things that are worrying you and reveal medical information. You can be assured that ALL information given and matters discussed during a treatment session remain confidential.
Any other questions? If you have any other questions which you would like to discuss before making a booking please do not hesitate to contact me – either by phone or by email. I will be very happy to help.
Important Notes
Your health and well-being is of paramount importance – because of this, the following always forms the basis of any treatment given.
Reflexology is not intended as an alternative to conventional medicine – treatments complement and are to be carried out in conjunction with any treatment received from your doctor or healthcare professional.
Never stop taking prescribed medication without referral to you doctor or healthcare professional.
Depending upon the information provided when completing the health questionnaire, you may (very rarely) be asked to consult your doctor before treatment can commence.
It is your responsibility to advise the practitioner of any changes to health and/or the information provided at your first consultation.
Reflexologists do not diagnose – any undiagnosed symptom or condition must be referred to you doctor or healthcare professional. |
